A very popular Allium that has lovely purple/violet flowers. Grow in hardy perennial borders or with Ornithogalum or camassia. They prefer sunny, sheltered borders that are well drained. They will naturalise really well and after a number of years may need to be divided, at which time lift them when the flowers have died back and re-plant. Alliums are superb for bees, pollinating insects and butterflies. Feed with bone meal or similar during the leaf and flowering stage to ensure future good growth and performance.
Aspect: Semi shade to full sun
