Description
Leucojum Vernum (Spring Snowflakes) is quite short and excellent for the damp/shadier areas of the garden that do not become waterlogged. They are sometimes mistaken for snowdrops but the flower is usually bigger than the snowdrops and they flower about a month later. The flowers are pure white and quite magnificent in appearance.
This variety has an AGM (Award of Garden Merit) given to it by the RHS for its great garden performance.
Leucojum vernum are ideal to naturalise for many years and like narcissi will quickly bulk up. The flowers appear in February to March and can grow to a height of 15cm. Leucojum are also good to grow with hellebores.
They need to have access to well rotted compost or organic matter (phosphate and potash) during the growing season and if not already in the soil it is best to add bone meal or similar. This will ensure they stay health for many years.
Growing instructions
