Description
Calanthe are very attractive outdoor orchids and discolor is no exception. The flowers of discolor are white and lavender rose. They are relatively easy to grow as long as you plant them in a sheltered position in a compost mixture of fibrous loam, leaf mould, sand and chopped sphagnum. After planting keep plants moist (as they do not like to get dry) and well shaded. Feed well during flowering with something like tomorite and mulch over winter for added protection.
Flowering height: 24″ (60cm)
Soil type: Mixture of fibrous loam, leaf mould, sand and chopped sphagum.
Aspect: Semi to full shade.
