Hedychium ellipticum has dense, flower spikes of yellowish white. Not usually offered but they are very useful plants for the garden. They are best treated like cannas for summer bedding. In some areas of the UK they are hardy but it is best to protect them well against winter frosts if leaving out. The foliage is also very attractive and will add to the impact it will make in the garden. When planting in containers ensure that they are regularly watered and fed during the growing season. They may take a year or so to establish.
