Hyacinths add an abundance of fragrance to the garden. Delft Blue is a classic hyacinth in its namesake blue from the Dutch town of Delft, famous for its pottery. Like all hyacinths it is easy to grow and comes back for a number of years. Hyacinths grown outside can be left undisturbed for a few years. After feeding and flowering let the flowers and leaves die back, remove the dead foliage and flowers and mulch well. Cultivate the soil to a depth of 20cms and plant bulbs 10cms deep and 8cms apart in moderately fertile soils. Work really well in containers with fragrant daffodils and mid season Tulips such as the double lates.
