This variety was formerly known as Smilacina. Maianthemum produce dense umbels of scented white flowers. These lovely plants are ideal for growing in the shadier parts of the garden and are particularly ideal for growing with Arisaema and ferns. Cultivate the soil to a depth of 20cms and in heavier soils grit and humus can be added to aid drainage. Plant 10cms deep and keep soil moist during the first year to help them establish. Leave alone to allow them to clump up.
Flowers April to May at a height of 50-60cms.
Soil type: Neutral to slightly acid in humus rich soils.
Aspect: Shady to semi sun.
